Description: “What’s Inside?” is a YouTube channel created by Dan and his son, Lincoln. They cut open everyday objects to see what is inside of them. The channel initially started when Dan posted a video of them slicing open a baseball for a school project. The video had no major effects or editing and was merely a father and son working together on a project in their kitchen. Despite the simplicity of the video, it went viral. Dan and Lincoln have continued making videos like these over the past 8 years and by doing so, have amassed a following of over 7 million subscribers. They have created a relationship with their subscribers by allowing them a glimpse into their life.

Over the past 8 years, they have watched Lincoln grow up and explore new interests. Those new interests are often included in the channel through the products they decide to cut open. The excitement they express when discovering what's inside an object mirrors that of the ever-expanding audience watching their videos. It feels as if the audience is right there with them as they explore the internal workings of products ranging from sports equipment to technological devices to toys. With the “fame” they have achieved through YouTube, came collaborations and brand deals with corporate entities. These corporations would sponsor videos and send products for the father and son duo to cut open on their channel. Despite their skyrocketing fame and sponsorships on YouTube, the channel still consists of the usual content along with authentic reactions and an occasional “dad joke”. Even as their filming equipment evolved and improved, the aura of their videos never changed. It is still an intimate and authentic moment, being filmed somewhere within their home, between a father, a son and their audience, caving to their curiosity about an object and its internal design.
